Saint Lucia Culture Book Design Project
Project Brief:
This project involved creating a 12-page cultural book centered around the rich and diverse culture of Saint Lucia, aimed at a wide audience ranging from families and single travelers to couples seeking both adventure and relaxation. The goal was to develop a cohesive visual narrative that celebrates the authentic culture, natural beauty, and heritage of the island, while showcasing three central cultural topics: local tourism, historical landmarks, and culinary experiences.
Design Objectives:
Showcase Authentic Culture: Present the real essence of Saint Lucia’s culture and people, focusing on locally owned businesses and preserved experiences, while acknowledging the island’s appeal to luxury travelers.
Appeal to a Broad Audience: Create a cultural guide for various demographics, including Millennials, Gen Z, Baby Boomers, and Gen X travelers, highlighting the island’s diverse attractions.
Dreamy, Retro Aesthetic: Establish a retro, dreamy look through photo editing and color schemes that capture the tranquil yet vibrant essence of the island, appealing to a nostalgic sense of adventure.
Design Vision:
The design balances the island’s natural beauty, historical significance, and culinary richness, creating an immersive experience for the reader. The cultural book incorporates a warm, tropical color palette with dreamy hues to evoke the island’s relaxed yet adventurous spirit. Photography plays a key role, with carefully edited images that emphasize the island’s lush landscapes, scenic beaches, and vibrant cultural festivals.​​​​​​​

Cover Design: A visually captivating cover that draws the reader into the serene yet dynamic environment of Saint Lucia.
Cultural Topics:
Tourism & Adventure: Dive Fest and SCUBA diving, featuring the colorful reefs and marine life that attract visitors to Saint Lucia.
Historical Significance: A focus on Pigeon Island National Park and Fort Rodney, highlighting the blend of natural beauty and rich history that defines the island.
Culinary Experience: The Rum Punch recipe, representing the island’s focus on authentic local flavors and its reputation for unique culinary experiences.
Typography: The Azo Sans and Lust Text font families were used to maintain readability while adding an elegant and modern touch to the book's aesthetic.
Imagery & Layout: The dreamy retro style is achieved through photo edits that highlight the natural and cultural richness of the island, while the layout ensures a smooth flow between text and visuals.
Final Deliverables:
A 12-page cultural book + cover highlighting the essence of Saint Lucia’s culture, natural beauty, and attractions.
